I am a self-taught artist. My subject matter leans toward the semi-abstract, in the form of figures and landscapes, both real and imagined. I start with a general idea, but the paintings are intuitive. I prefer to let the painting evolve organically and let the painting tell me what to do. My work is heavily driven by mood, emotion, things I’ve heard, read, dreamed or experienced, very much like a journal. Though some of the subjects are dark, I try to balance the beautiful and the grotesque using bright colors and bold designs. My method helps me create art that is expressive and interesting.
